Germany Launches Fully Digital Visa Application System from February 2025
Starting February 17, 2025, Germany is transforming its visa application process with the introduction of a fully digital system. Applicants can now submit visa forms through the Consular Services Portal (CSP), significantly reducing paperwork and processing time.
This change is especially beneficial for students looking to study in Germany, as it streamlines the application process, making it quicker and more efficient.
How Does the New Process Work?
Whether you are a student, professional, or someone applying for family reunification, the steps are now simplified:
- Complete the Application Online:
Submit your visa application and necessary documents through the CSP at digital.diplo.de/studium. - Schedule Your Biometric Appointment:
After submission, book an appointment at a German mission to provide biometric data. - Faster Processing & No More Waitlists:
The existing waitlist system will end on February 18, 2025. All applicants must use the CSP for faster appointments.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock highlighted the importance of this digital shift:
“Germany needs at least 400,000 skilled workers annually. A digital, efficient, and secure visa system is essential to attract global talent.”
